COLUMBIA, S.C. – Andrew Patrick has been named Sylvan Learning Center’s Teacher of the Month.
Equipped with a Master of Science degree in biology from the University of South Carolina, Patrick began teaching at Sylvan’s Northeast Columbia location in October of 2019. Though he has many tutoring talents, Andrew is happiest to teach science and mathematics, and he has a passion for those moments when an obstacle turns into understanding.
In the amount of time he has been with Sylvan, Patrick has created new lessons to provide intellectual stimulation and enjoyment for the STEM students.
“It’s obvious that Andrew really cares about the students’ education, but also whether or not they’re having fun learning these new STEM concepts,” said Sharon Smith, Director of Education at Sylvan Learning of Northeast Columbia. “We’re thrilled to have him as part of our team.”
While he is most often praised for his innovative work with the STEM club, Patrick also teaches upper-level math and homework support for STEM subjects. Outside of Sylvan, he enjoys amateur study of philosophy, theology, and language.
