When we consider the many challenges facing our community today, affordable housing comes to the forefront. For over 15 years, there has been a true collaborative effort by Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County and Michelin to provide families the opportunity for affordable homeownership.
In 2002, Michelin participated in its first partial house sponsorship. Since that time, Michelin has been a dedicated partner, supporting the work of Habitat Greenville through financial and volunteer support.
Sponsoring ten full builds since 2008, Michelin is now raising the walls on its eleventh build. Eleven families are now enjoying the many benefits of homeownership because of Michelin’s generous support. This year, the Sullivan family will work alongside Michelin employees to help build their new home.
Michelin is committed to investing in the communities where it maintains operations. More than 1,000 Michelin employees have worked on Habitat build sites completing more than 17,000 hours of volunteer service. Upon completion of the 2018 Michelin Build, that number will reach over 1,200 Michelin employees who have given over 18,000 hours to build on multiple Habitat homes.
Habitat Greenville is deeply grateful for the support of Michelin. It takes partnerships like this to make a lasting difference on our community. Together we can make Greenville County a community where everyone has a decent place to live!
