GREENVILLE, SC (July 21, 2017) — Food Network “Chopped” winner and NBCBLK 28 honoree Chef Roshara Sanders (Chef Ro) partnered with Habitat for Humanity to host an exclusive evening event in Greenville, SC, last night. The rooftop affair was held at The Loft at Soby’s, a Table 301 Restaurant Group private venue in the heart of downtown Greenville. Guests dined on custom recipes from the African continent created by Chef Ro and learned about Habitat’s work to address affordable housing needs in Greenville and around the world.
The partnership between Chef Ro and Habitat was inspired by Chef Ro’s own personal history, having grown up in a Habitat home in Connecticut.
“There wouldn’t be a Chef Ro without Habitat,” said Sanders. “Habitat helped me grow up in a stable home and have a future to come back to after serving in the United States Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Chef Ro will embark on her first Habitat Global Village trip this November to Malawi.
“Chef Ro’s success story is why we do what we do here at Habitat,” said Monroe Free, President/CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. “Habitat allowed her mom the opportunity to become a homeowner and provide security for her family. We see this story repeated over and over with our family partners. Our vision is to create a world where everyone has a place to call home.”
Attendees at the event included celebrities, media and Habitat supporters from both Greenville and around the United States. Ingersoll Rand served as the event’s sponsoring partner.
