You know the feeling when you want to be productive but spend the entire time on Google being anything but? We took advantage of that feeling this week, and hit the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button once a day to see how entertaining the results could be. Here’s everything that came up this week.
On Monday, the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button gave us the result “Coin flipping,” with an online version of Heads or Tails, and an explanation of the history behind this game, which goes back to the Romans where they actually used to say, “Ship or Head,” as some coins had a ship on one side and the head of the emperor on the other. In England, this was referred to as cross and pile.
Tuesday, our “I’m Feeling Lucky” result was “comedy movies,” with a list of suggestions of the top comedy movies to watch, including Masterminds, Grown Ups, Zootopia, Legally Blonde, and Night at the Museum.
The “I’m Feeling Lucky” button gave a list of current trending searches on Wednesday, which included The 2021 British Open, American Horror Story, Neutrogena Sunscreen recall, Kourtney Kardashian, Phil Mickelson, and Mask Mandate in L.A. County—a very interesting mix of topics, to say the least.
Thursday’s “I’m Feeling Lucky” Google search adventure brought us to “Cat Memes,” which included an abundance of hilarious cat memes—a good laugh.
On Friday, our last search result was “Robert Moog’s 78th birthday,” where we learned that Moog invented the electronic analog Moog Synthesizer. The timbre and tones of this keyboard instrument would later come to define a generation of music, featuring heavily in songs by The Beatles, The Doors, Stevie Wonder, Kraftwerk and many others.
We learned some cool new things and got a list of movie suggestions to watch and ended with a laugh—I’d say it was a successful Google search week!
