The temperature is getting slightly cooler while the leaves are turning to rust and falling off trees, which means Fall is slowly arriving to the Upstate. With autumn finally making an appearance, that can only mean one thing: prime picture taking season is here. Since there are many fall-themed events around the community, we have compiled a list of must-do activities that involve breaking out that flannel and getting in the spirit of the season.
- Escape Artist Greenville’s Starlight Motel: A Horror Experience
What better way to kick-off the Halloween season than trying to escape the most frightening escape room yet? Aimed at groups of four to eight people, the newest room was created from outrageously bad but actual motel reviews. Set to open Monday, October 1 at Escape Room Greenville located at 209 East Stone Avenue.
- Holy Cross Pumpkin Patch
We all know you want those cute pictures of your kids picking out a pumpkin and what better place to go than the Holy Cross Pumpkin Patch in Simpsonville. The patch will open October 6 with hours being Monday through Friday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Plus all proceeds are donated to Habitat for Humanity and other local charities around the Upstate.
- Fall for Greenville: October 12-14
Only the biggest festival in the Upstate – and the one we have all been waiting for since last fall. If you are new to the area or have been here your entire life, this is THE festival you don’t want to miss. Along with free entertainment across seven stages spread around downtown, there will also be more than 40 restaurants in attendance offering more than 200 menu items. The event is certainly a foodie’s paradise.
- Contemporary Print Collective Event: October 26-28
Located in the Village of West Greenville, this event will feature 20 artists from around the Upstate with more than 500 prints available for purchase. Not only do event goers get to buy prints and spruce up their home, artists will also meet one-on-one and help people discover printmaking techniques to possibly start their own print collections. This event is free and open to the public on Friday, October 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, October 27 from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, October 28 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Reedy Reels Film Festival: November 2-4
We have all at some point in our lives dreamt of getting dolled up and attending a red carpet event — don’t lie you know it’s true. Wait no more because your chance to celebrate some of the Upstate’s up-and-coming filmmakers is happening this November. Kick-off the weekend on Friday, November 2 at a party equipped with a red carpet, culinary delights, live music, and a preview of the films that will be shown throughout the weekend.
Honestly is there anything better than being outside on a fall day, coffee in hand attending fall-themed events and even capturing those Instagram-worthy pictures? We don’t think so.
