Greenville, what’s in your glass?
Ok, that question is supposed to sound like the Capital One commercials and make you smile a little. But we do have a question to you that comes from one of our great partners, Liquid Catering. They are doing a survey on what Greenville and the rest of the Upstate is drinking when it goes to events.
You can take the survey here.
But before you click, here is why we think this is important information to share. Our region has shifted dramatically when it comes to the consumption of alcohol. It was less than 21 years ago (drinking age reference) that a person couldn’t buy alcohol on Sunday across the Upstate unless they were a member of a private club. Bars stopped serving promptly at midnight. Most bars served only a handful of beers on tap or in bottles. Liquor was served in mini-bottles that most people associated with airlines. It was a different place.
Now, the vast majority of cities allow Sunday alcohol sales either over the bar or over the counter. That has changed our economic scene. There are scores of breweries, distilleries and vineyards in our region. The world has not ended because of that.
Because of this shift, it is interesting to see what people are drinking now. The survey asks everything from what your five favorite beers are to your choice in vodka to if you accept the idea of wine in the box now that glass recycling has gone the way of Sunday Prohibition.
And we are kind of happy we made it through this Friday Flash with less than five bad jokes. Time for Happy Hour.
