GREENVILLE, S.C. – Employees from Alpha Omega Construction, a local roofing and construction company, came out to build a roof for a Rebuild Upstate family today.
Alpha Omega Construction Group, Inc. has proudly served the Southeast as an award-winning roofing company for more than two decades. Whether it is roofing, siding or gutters, they strive to provide homeowners and commercial businesses the quality work and workmanship their customers deserve.
The value of the project is estimated to be $2,500 in material and $2,000 labor for the project. Owens Corning donated the shingles and Alpha Omega donated labor and the remaining materials.
James Tharrett, Marketing Department Manager, said community outreach projects such a Rebuild Upstate are not new to Alpha Omega. From No Roof Left Behind to Habitat for Humanity, from Roofs for Troops to countless sponsorships of youth sports organizations across the Southeast, Alpha Omega Construction Group is no stranger to helping out wherever they can.
“We help protect homes, that’s what a roof is… the first and last line of defense in protecting your belongings and family. It only makes sense to be involved in the neighborhoods and communities we roof in,” Tharett said.
Rebuild Upstate helps low-income homeowners with home repairs and accessibility improvements to create safe, livable housing in existing homes and neighborhoods. Typically homeowners fall into one of three segments: low-income families with children in the home, seniors age 60 and older, and people with disabilities.
The non-profit agency specializes in home repairs and accessibility improvements. Home repairs can range from small plumbing fixes to roof and floor replacements. Accessibility improvements range from installing grab bars and railings for vulnerable populations to building wheel chair ramps for those with disabilities.
Rebuild Upstate has a diverse funding model comprised of individuals, corporations, foundations, local churches, and small businesses that support the organization. Additionally, they partner with local governmental agencies to secure funding to serve specific populations of residents.
Nearly one hundred nonprofit agencies, governmental programs, churches, and other programs refer homes to Rebuild Upstate. Additionally, individuals contact them directly seeking assistance. In 2014, Rebuild Upstate received nearly 1,500 requests for assistance in Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, and Pickens counties.
“Rebuild Upstate can help so many families because of donations of time, materials and money from companies such as Alpha Omega,” said Chris Manley, Rebuild Upstate’s executive director. “They have done more than built a roof today. They changed the life of a family.”
